On the Red Dot – Living with Diabetes

November has been declared Diabetes Awareness Month . On the Red Dot journeys with three Singaporeans living with this chronic disease . Kamaruddin Ahmad has lost everything to diabetes , including his left leg which was amputated six years ago . The stigma of having an amputated leg continues to haunt him as he tackles life with a never – say – die attitude . Dancer and choreography , Gerard Sebastian Raj , never thought that diabetes would affect him . But in September 2017 , he discovers a gangrenous ulcer on his toe that could take away his livelihood . Faced with the threat of amputation , Gerard is taking every step possible to keep his dancing shoes on . Dealing with the pressures of adulthood and managing diabetes is no easy feat for 28 – year – old Kenzi Wheatley – Holder . As a type 1 diabetic , Kenzi never discovered how or why she contracted this disease , but she continues to dream of living a normal life .
